CLO Bronze

Mi Hub Group is proud to announce it has been officially accredited as a Bronze Carbon Literate Organisation, a milestone that reflects the Group’s dedication to tackling climate change, reducing its carbon emissions, and working towards a zero-carbon future.

Mi Hub’s Carbon Literacy Journey

Mi Hub began its journey with The Carbon Literacy Project to educate employees, suppliers, and customers. To achieve Bronze accreditation, the Group developed bespoke Carbon Literacy training, which has been delivered to 12 staff across nine departments. Participants learned to consider climate change impacts when establishing strategy and implementing policy, with the opportunity to become formally certified as Carbon Literate.

The initiative also aims to influence everyday decision-making both at work and in personal life. By raising awareness and understanding of climate change, Mi Hub encourages behavioural change and societal support for actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Group’s Science Based Targets.

Steph Barnard, Director of ESG and Risk, says

“Achieving the Carbon Literate Organisation Bronze Award is a milestone that recognises the Group’s commitment to understanding climate change and taking meaningful action. Carbon Literacy is more than knowledge, it’s about empowerment, enabling people to recognise the role they play, both individually and collectively, in shaping a more sustainable future. Achieving Bronze is just the beginning. We will continue to embed climate awareness into Mi Hub’s culture, support low-carbon choices, and encourage everyone to take action that drives real change.”

Dave Coleman, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Carbon Literacy Project, said:

“Carbon Literacy is an essential skill, vital to every workplace, community, and place of study. It is the foundational knowledge, and a catalyst to empowering people to act on climate, however, Carbon Literacy is only the first step. The actions taken and pledged by learners as part of their Carbon Literacy have an immediate impact within their organisation, however it is the maintenance of these and further actions, supported by Carbon Literate organisational culture, that reaps the greatest rewards for both participants and their organisations.  By becoming a Bronze accredited Carbon Literate Organisation, Mi Hub has demonstrated its commitment to genuine low carbon action, environmental and economic impact, and the building of a low carbon future for us all.”

Broader ESG Commitments

Mi Hub’s carbon reduction journey is part of its wider ESG commitments, with a target to achieve net zero by 2050. The Group focuses on emissions within its control, measuring operational carbon footprint and investing in scope 1 and scope 2 emission reductions. Transparency and accuracy are central, and the Group’s carbon footprint has been verified against the international ISO 14064-1 standard.

Mi Hub is proud to have achieved its near-term scope 1 and 2 Science Based Targets five years ahead of schedule, realised through operational improvements, technology investments, and transitioning to a lower-emissions company car fleet.

Looking Ahead

Awareness and education remain a cornerstone of Mi Hub’s strategy. By launching Carbon Literacy training, the Group aims to save up to 130 tCO2e and equip senior leaders to embed climate considerations into strategy and policy. In the coming years, Mi Hub plans to adapt its training to different teams internally and extend learning to external suppliers and customers, increasing understanding of the climate crisis across its network.

Alongside its Carbon Literacy journey, Mi Hub’s ESG team continues to challenge operational practices, enhance carbon reporting, and monitor progress against Science Based Targets, driving meaningful climate action across the business.

The climate crisis is a challenge we must address collectively, and every action to reduce our environmental impact counts. Through education, awareness, and operational excellence, Mi Hub is committed to making a positive difference for the planet, today and in the future.

Understanding Carbon Literacy

Carbon Literacy is defined as “an awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.” It is built around a day’s worth of learning and action, equipping participants with the knowledge and capacity to create positive change in how we live, work, and behave in response to climate change.

The Carbon Literacy Project, recognised by the UN at COP21 as one of 100 worldwide Transformative Action Programs, certifies both individuals and organisations for their participation in action-focused climate education. A Carbon Literate Organisation demonstrates cultural commitment by maintaining a substantial proportion of its workforce as Carbon Literate and embedding this awareness into organisational behaviour. Accreditation is tiered from Bronze to Platinum, reflecting increasing levels of commitment to low-carbon practices.
