NHS Business Development Lead & Regional Sales, Roma McLeod given special thanks from NHS for showcasing immense strength, courage and support throughout the pandemic.

The National Health Services of the United Kingdom were awarded the George Cross by Her Majesty The Queen in June 2021, recognising 73 years of dedicated service, including the courageous efforts of healthcare workers across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic. The award is a symbol of the nation's gratitude for everything the NHS has done throughout the pandemic.

Following the receipt of the George Cross, the NHS designed a series of in badges to both recognise and remember the amazing contribution of each and every one of their colleagues.

On Friday 6th May, Roma was personally presented and thanked by Head of Contract Services, John McElhoney, and awarded a special pin for her dedicated services throughout Covid-19 in support of the NHS.

Roma has worked with the company for over 30 years and has supported the NHS since 2010 and worked every day during Covid-19.

What is the George Cross?

The George Cross is the highest civilian gallantry award and is granted in recognition of “acts of the greatest heroism or of the most courage in circumstances of extreme danger.” The NHS marks only the third time it has been awarded collectively, rather than to an individual, by Queen Elizabeth II.

NHS CEO, Dave Rosser said:

"Working through the pandemic has profoundly affected us, both as individuals and as an organisation. While each of us had a unique experience, we have shared many common experiences. You have shown immense strength and courage during this time.

Every person, every role and every department has played a critical part in keeping our services going for the patients we care for. Our Trust is made up of thousands of individuals who make our team strong, kind and compassionate. Each of you represent a critical piece of UHB.

"Everything you have done, and continue to do every day, makes a real difference, to our patients, their families, our community and to each other."
