Mi Hub is proud to be the first uniform provider to join ZDHC’s network that is “detoxing the fashion industry’s global value chain” with wastewater testing and chemical management transparency.
‘ZDHC’ stands for Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals and the ‘Roadmap to Zero’ programme seeks to diminish and ultimately, eliminate hazardous chemicals present in the manufacturing and production processes used within the textiles, leather, and footwear industry sectors. These harmful chemicals can infiltrate the water supply and farming irrigation, contaminating crops and drinking water in the local communities.
The Mi Hub group manufactures clothing globally and is acutely aware of the potential impacts it can have, and is committed to its ethical compliance, sustainable initiatives and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programme. Operating through its four brands (Dimensions, Alexandra, Affinity and Yaffy), Mi Hub sees the ‘Roadmap to Zero’ as a vital part of its wider ESG strategy.
As part of its evolving 5-year ESG strategy; in 2020, Mi Hub committed to meeting a target that 80% of its fabric volume would come from mills participating in wastewater testing by 2025 and Mi Hub’s new partnership with ZDHC will serve as a catalyst towards Mi Hub meeting its 2025 80% goal.
Mi Hub is delighted to be a ‘Signatory Friend of ZDHC -Vendor’ and a part of the collaboration of Brands & Retailers, Chemical, Textile, Leather & Footwear Industry Suppliers and Associations that are working together to support the implementation of safer chemical management practices. Other signatories of ZDHC include: Gymshark, John Lewis, Next, Nike, New Balance, Marks and Spencer, Levis and Superdry, so Mi Hub is in good company.
Product & Manufacturing Director at Mi Hub, Gill Oliver says of the partnership:
I’m thrilled to be able to say we are on track to achieve the target that 60% of our fabric volume would come from mills participation in wastewater testing by the end of the year. For the end of 2024, we are setting our target at 70% and we are confident in achieving our 80% target by the end of 2025.”
